One of the last things on every home buyers list is to hire a home inspector to check out the house they want to purchase and often that involves one of the prospective purchasers calling up local inspectors for a quote on how much it will cost and maybe asking a few questions. Usually a selection on who to hire is made based on those calls, hopefully a little more research goes into such an important decision. In almost all cases the Home Inspector is hired with no personal interview and the first time the parties meet is at the house and after the inspection is completed and they then review the results of the inspection and maybe do a walkthrough of the premises.
I seldom give out quotes for inspection services over the phone; I ask to meet with the prospective client to discuss my services etc. face to face. It's just the way I do business, especially something as important as this, afterall it is the biggest purchase all of us will make in our lifetime. If the client is out of town or is unable to meet I always advise them to do their research and talk to friends, family and others they trust and check out my website to get a better idea of who I am and what I can do for you. If it's references you want I can quickly provide clients with some names of past clients etc. Personal referrals are usually the best and that is how I have been able to grow my business over the years. I am an inspector for you the buyer and not for any realtor or real-estate firm. My slogan is "your protection is my priority" and that's what I stand by. The way I see it my reputation is on the line every time I step into a house to inspect it.
I always like to recall one conversation with a lady client after the house inspection process was completed and I asked her "why did you choose me to do your inspection "and she said "because you sounded intelligent and knowledgeable and it seemed like you were genuinely interested and cared". That's what I want to hear from every client of mine.
